It’s tricky enough for us humans, especially for people who come from warmer climates. But how are the exotic animals in London Zoo coping with the snow and the cold? The First Pint went to find out.
The Rockhopper penguins were out in force at London Zoo today, as the first snowflakes hit the capital.
More sensitive souls such as the Komodo dragons and Galapagos tortoises stayed snug in their temparature-regulated exhibitions, unaware of the winter wonderland which lay outside.
Staff at London Zoo have been laying out extra bedding for the zebras and giraffes, but Zoo spokesperson Amy Harris insisted that “All of our animals are doing well, as they’re used to British winters.”
The otters also ventured out to investigate their new surroundings, but the meerkats are having none of it, instead snuggling up under their heat lamps until the icy days are over.
